Why is it that Republicans kept their majority in the House even though Democrats won more popular votes?

David Mayhew, Sterling Professor of Political Science at Yale University and Resident Faculty at ISPS, guest-blogged about this in a post titled, “Earning More Seats with Fewer Votes: Why the 1996 House Election Results are Not Necessarily a Good Analogy for 2012,” on the Monkey Cage on December 6, 2012.
