Susan Hyde on “What Makes Some Elections Violent?”

Susan Hyde and co-author Emilie Hafner-Burton posted a piece in the Monkey Cage titled, “What makes some elections violent?”

The authors write: “Although it may seem obvious to say that leaders use election violence as a way to fend off threats to their power, it is not at all obvious how to identify these threats before the violence breaks out.”

The post is related to an article recently published by Susan Hyde, Emilie Hafner-Burton, and Ryan Jablonski in the British Journal of Political Science titled ”When Do Governments Resort to Election Violence?” which temporarily has ungated access.
