Susan Hyde and co-author Emilie Hafner-Burton posted a piece in the Monkey Cage titled, “What makes some elections violent?”

The authors write: “Although it may seem obvious to say that leaders use election violence as a way to fend off threats to their power, it is not at all obvious how to identify these threats before the violence breaks out.”
