About CSAP

For decades, Americanists have deployed a broad set of methodological approaches and a deep knowledge of American politics to contribute to our understanding of political institutions and behavior. ISPS created the Center for the Study of American Politics to promote scholarship in the field and further this intellectual tradition.

Today, CSAP:

  • Provides research funding, fellowships, and employment opportunities to scholars and students inside and outside of Yale, including yearlong residencies to pursue research and collaborate with colleagues
  • Sponsors conferences and special lectures
  • Conducts lunchtime workshops on American politics and public policy, quantitative research methodology, and political behavior, featuring distinguished faculty and fellows from Yale and other institutions

In this way, the Center for the Study of American Politics strives to make important contributions to research and teaching in the field of American politics. While enhancing the academic environment for students and faculty at Yale.
