Event description:

AMERICAN POLITICS & PUBLIC POLICY WORKSHOP

Abstract: As widespread opioid addiction continues to grip communities throughout the United States, policymakers at every level of government are working to combat the crisis. What drives preferences for collective responses to the modern US opioid crisis, and how are these preferences translated into policy? The proposed project explores medicine, criminal justice, and distribution of disease burden in the implementation of drug related health policy. Results from preliminary analysis of harm reduction policy will be reviewed, but the workshop will primarily focus on research design.

Lilla Orr is a doctoral student in Political Science and a master’s student in Statistics and Data Science at Yale. Her research primarily focuses on effects of social otherness on political and health behavior. Prior to pursuing graduate studies, she completed a B.S. in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at the University of California, San Diego.
