APSA Begins in Chicago

The annual meeting of the American Political Science Association (APSA) begins this week in Chicago and seventeen ISPS faculty residents and affiliates are presenting their papers on an array of topics:

  • Jacob Hacker is presenting a paper on path dependence and will also participate in a panel discussion on the role of business in politics;
  • Susan Hyde is presenting a paper she has co-authored on election violence, chairing a discussion on sovereign states and trans-nationalism, and is participating on a panel about voter suppression and electoral integrity;
  • Eitan Hersh is presenting a paper he co-authored on the sources of partisan polarization;
  • John Henderson is presenting a paper he co-authored on campaign ads;
  • Ana De La O is presenting a paper she co-authored a paper on social media and the youth vote in the 2012 Mexican election;
  • Dan Butler is presenting a paper on constituents and voter polarization, and a co-authored paper on a survey experiment on state legislators;
  • Deborah Beim is presenting a paper she co-authored on the influence of dissent in judicial hierarchy;
  • Ellie Powell is presenting her paper on money, lobbying and committee access;
  • Vesla Weaver is participating on a panel discussion on inequality within racial and ethnic groups;
  • Greg Huber and Alan Gerber along with post-docs David Hendry and Dan Biggers will present a paper using a field experiment on political participation and the criminal justice system;
  • Kelly Rader is presenting a paper she co-wrote on incumbency advantage;
  • David Mayhew will chair a discussion on party group linkages in American politics;
  • Stephen Skowronek will participate in an historical look at American politics; and
  • Allan Dafoe is presenting a paper he co-authored on empirical approaches to security studies, and participating in a discussion on data access and research transparency.
