Jacob Hacker on the Renewed Interest in the Public Option

July 15, 2016

Jacob Hacker joins a panel discussion on NPR’s station member KCRW about the future of Obamacare and the renewed interest in the “public option.”

Hacker says of the the public option: “It’s really focused on insuring that there is strong competition in all of the markets in the country; that there’s a plan that will have relatively broad choice of providers as Medicare does; and that insurers have the leverage to hold down costs.”

Other guests on the program are Paul Demko (Politico), Philip Klein (Washington Examiner), and Jonathan Cohn (Huffington Post). Show is hosted by Warren Olney.
