Jacob Hacker Elected to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences

April 12, 2017
We are pleased to announce that our Director, Jacob Hacker, has been elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

As one of the country’s oldest learned societies, the American Academy recognizes intellectual leadership of its members and the wide range of expertise they bring to its studies and publications.

Professor Hacker was nominated to the Public Affairs and Public Policy section of the Academy, and he is well known for his research and expertise on income inequality, the decline of the middle-class, and health care reform.

Other ISPS affiliates who were elected this year are Nicholas Christakis, Sol Goldman Family Professor of Social and Natural Science, the Director of the Human Nature Lab, and co-Director of the Yale Institute for Network Science; and Heather GerkenJ. Skelly Wright Professor of Law and the next dean of Yale Law beginning July 1.

Eric Schickler, who received his PhD at Yale and co-authored a book with former ISPS Director Don Green, was elected in the Political Science section.
