Biography
Kate Baldwin is an associate professor of political science and a faculty fellow at the Institution for Social and Policy Studies. She is the author of the book The Paradox of Traditional Chiefs in Democratic Africa (Cambridge University Press, 2016).
Her current research projects analyze politics in weak states, examining how non-state actors — such as traditional leaders, churches and NGOs — interact with the national state to affect development and democracy.
