COMPUTATION AND SOCIETY INITIATIVE COFFEE BREAK SERIES

The Computation and Society Initiative (CSI)welcomes  Professor Nicholas Christakis, Sterling Professor of Social and Natural Science. Professor Christakis will present an overview of where we are with the coronavirus, how it came to affect us, what the key parameters are (attack rate, infection fatality rate, effective reproductive ratio - all of which are not fully known yet), and what we should be focusing on in the coming months (widespread serological testing and preparing the nation to live differently for a while). He will also briefly touch on some work in his lab, including the imminent launch of a risk tracking app available for personal use.

In this on-going series of discussions, CSI invites experts and leaders to share their perspectives on some of the key challenges facing society and whose solutions are likely to involve a novel synthesis of ideas and innovations from disciplines and schools including computer science, data science, social sciences, humanities, public health, business, and law.

CSI organizers hope that these Coffee Breaks will stimulate discussion, build connections, and foster collaborations across fields.  They are intended to be widely accessible, and since they will be virtual, space is not limited.  CSI Coffee Break events are open to the public.
