ISPS-DISSC SPECIAL WORKSHOP EVENT

This workshop explores recent advances in large language models (LLMs), and it introduces participants to training supervised machine learning algorithms on textual tasks (and beyond). Participants will gain hands-on experience in fine-tuning models, as well as evaluating performance and employing them at scale.

Giuliano Formisano is a PhD Candidate in Social Data Science at the University of Oxford (ESRC and Nuffield College Scholar). His research focuses on political public opinion and polarisation, using machine learning, natural language processing, networks, and time-series. Alongside his PhD, Giuliano collaborates with Oxford’s Department of Politics (AuthLIB project) and Science Po’s Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics (FARPE project). Giuliano holds an MPhil in Politics (University of Oxford, 2021) and a BA in Politics and International Relations (University of Exeter, 2019).
