On April 30 ISPS hosted an all-day convening of prominent scholars, policymakers, and experts on the federal budget from across the ideological and political spectrum to discuss not only the enormous fiscal challenges facing our country but also the ways in which social science scholarship on policy issues can help inform the federal government’s responses to those challenges. Peter Orszag was the keynote speaker and framed the discussion, and Chrystia Freeland moderated  the two panel discussions. The panelists on the first discussion, “Inequality and the Federal Budget,” were Henry Aaron, Robert Greenstein, Alice Rivlin and David Walker; and on the second  discussion, “Research and Policy Making” were Valerie Change, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro, William Nordhaus and Theda Skocpol.
