Strong Showing for ISPS at MPSA 2013

The annual Midwest Political Science Association (MPSA) begins this week in Chicago and fourteen ISPS residents, including faculty,graduate students and post-doc, are presenting their papers on an array of topics. Alan Gerber is presenting a paper on doctors’ influence on public opinion, and will also participate in a roundtable discussion on the impact of his field experiments book co-written with Don Green;  Eitan Hersh has two papers to present on voting behavior, and one on a panel survey of campaign workers; Ellie Powell has a paper on whether money follows Congressmen in exile; Greg Huber is presenting a paper on law enforcement and citizens willingness to cooperate; Dan Butler has two papers to present based on survey experiments on politicians; Susan Hyde is presenting a paper on a field experiment on democracy in rural Cambodia; Kelly Rader is presenting on federal spending in Tea Party states; and Sam DeCanio on voters’ choices.

In addition, papers will be presented by our graduate students: Lara Chausow on Congress and lobbying; Adam Dynes on politics in local elections; Celia Paris on incivility in the political blogosphere; and Rachael Silbermann on gender work-life choices and the decision to run for office.

And our two ISPS post-docs will also present papers: Daniel Biggers on an historical analysis on states’ election reforms, and David Hendry on network structures and social norms.
