New Health Policy Seminars Begin at ISPS

The new initiative, ISPS Health at Yale, will begin its first Interdisciplinary Health Seminar tomorrow at noon. Jointly sponsored by ISPS Health and Yale Law School this will be an ongoing monthly workshop held on the first Wednesday of each month. The goal of these seminars is to make far-reaching linkages across the University–from the Hospital, to Arts & Sciences, to the graduate schools.

For the inaugural seminar, David Meltzer, M.D., PhD (University of Chicago) will present his paper “Redesign of Care for Patients at High Risk of Hospitalization in a Reforming U.S. Healthcare System.” The talk will describe the theoretical and empirical rationale for a new model of care in which patients at high risk of hospitalization are cared for by the same physician in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The talk will also describe the efforts to test this model through a randomized clinical trial being executed at the University of Chicago with funding through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

All Yale community welcome; lunch is provided. At 77 Prospect Street, Room A001.
