Jacob Hacker on the Future of the ACA
June 29, 2015
Jacob Hacker’s new article in American Prospect, “The ACA Has Survived Yet Again. Now What?” gives us reasons to celebrate the Supreme Court decision last week, as it secures all Americans access to health care, particularly the low income.
“The existential threats are mostly past,” he writes. Though Hacker discusses how the GOP could try to undermine the ACA by giving states more freedom and cutting subsidies, any attempt to repeal and replace the benefit, he points out, would cost the government a lot of money.
“The ACA is here to stay,” he writes, the challenge now is expanding coverage and keeping the costs low.
