ISPS Announces New Program: The Dahl Research Scholars

August 31, 2015

The Institution for Social and Policy Studies is pleased to announce a new fellowship for Yale College students committed to positively influencing public policy through research, the Dahl Research Scholars program. Beginning in the 2015-2016 academic year, three Dahl Scholars will be chosen in a competitive process each fall and matched with one of ISPS’s three major programs – ISPS Health, the Center for the Study of American Politics (CSAP), and the ISPS Center for the Study of Inequality (I-CSI) – for a yearlong research fellowship and academic mentorship opportunity.

Once matched with a host center, each Dahl Research Scholar will be placed in a research assistant position with a faculty affiliate working on policy-relevant social science. Additionally, each Dahl Scholar will carry out an independent research project on a pressing public policy matter in collaboration with their host center; Yale College students selected for the program will be provided any necessary methodological training and receive weekly research guidance on their public policy projects from faculty and graduate student mentors. Upon conclusion of the program in the spring, each Dahl Scholar will have produced a white paper detailing their public policy research, including legislative and political analysis, as well as policy recommendations, for presentation at an ISPS sponsored event and publication on the ISPS website. A stipend is provided.

Applications open August 31, 2015. To apply, please visit the Dahl Research Scholars and click on “Application Form.” Deadline is September 20 @ 11:59pm.
