Jacob Hacker’s Interview on Rising Inequality
September 14, 2015
In a 30-minute radio interview on Inside Charlottesville, Jacob Hacker tackles the issue of the rising inequality in the United States, the subject of his last book co-authored with Paul Pierson, Winner-Take-All Politics (2010). The book set out to “wake people up that this is happening,” Hacker says, emphasizing that the rise in inequality is not caused by globalization and technical change, but rather “rooted in our policies and politics.”
“It doesn’t have to be that way; it is a departure from the strong traditions of American opportunity, ingenuity and democracy.”
