Taking the Temperature: What Do Americans Think about Artificial Intelligence?

Baobao Zhang, a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science, and Allan Dafoe at the Future of Humanity Institute at Oxford released a new survey on the public’s attitudes toward AI. Being one of the first surveys on the subject, the authors aimed for “breadth over depth” with far-ranging questions about the public’s general attitude toward AI; public opinion on AI governance; AI policy and the US-China ‘arms race’; and views on AI’s role in the workplace. The report aslo includes a breakdown of attitudes by demographics.
