Greg Huber on How the Public Views Police Reform (NBC CT)

February 20, 2022
NBC CT featured the latest study done by our ISPS researchers.

Greg Huber and Kyle Peyton’s recent paper, published in Criminology and Public Policy, surveyed the American public on the terms “Abolish the Police” vs. “Defund the Police” vs. “Reform the Police.”

The study found that respondents were less receptive to the terms ‘abolition’ and ‘defunding’ but were more supportive of police ‘reform.’ They also found that the public’s concern about crime and public safety were salient.

The research was based on a national survey of American adults. It was conducted in October 2020, months after the summer of protests.
