Kate Baldwin
Associate Professor of Political Science and Global Affairs

Kate Baldwin is an associate professor of political science and a faculty fellow at the Institution for Social and Policy Studies. She is the author of the book The Paradox of Traditional Chiefs in Democratic Africa (New York: Cambridge University Press, 2016).

Her current research projects analyze politics in weak states, examining how non-state actors — such as traditional leaders, churches and NGOs — interact with the national state to affect development and democracy.

Lara Chausow is a graduate student who studies American Politics, with a focus on Congress, lobbying, and interest groups. Prior to entering graduate school, she conducted research and advocacy for government ethics and campaign finance reform at Public Citizen in Washington, DC.

Alexandra Cirone
External Faculty Fellow

Alexandra “Ali” Cirone is an assistant professor in the London School of Economics’ School of Public Policy (SPP) and has a joint appointment in the Government Department. She also holds a research appointment at the BI Norwegian Business School, and she is a non-resident fellow in the Democratic Innovations Program at Yale University’s Institution for Social and Policy Studies. She is one of the editors and co-founders of Broadstreet.blog, a blog on historical political economy.

Ana De La O
Associate Professor of Political Science

Ana De La O Torres is an associate professor of political science and in the Institution for Social and Policy Studies, with affiliations at the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies, and the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs. Her research relates to the political economy of poverty alleviation, clientelism, and the provision of public goods.

Kevin DeLuca
Assistant Professor of Political Science

Kevin DeLuca is an assistant professor of political science and resident fellow at the Institution for Social and Policy Studies. His research interests include political economy and political representation, with a focus on elections, election laws, and the role of the media in the political process.

Jack Dozier is a junior in Yale College studying towards a BA/MA in political science, which a certificate in journalism. He is the Director of the Yale Youth Poll, a national research poll studying the additudes of young Americans, which is housed at the ISPS and is a reader for The Yale Review. His studies focus primarily on public opinion research and American political parties. He is from North Garden, Virginia, and is in Saybrook College.

Amir Fairdosi
Lecturer in Political Science, Associate Research Scholar at the Center for the Study of American Politics

Amir Shawn Fairdosi is a Lecturer in Political Science and an Associate Research Scholar at the Center for the Study of American Politics.  He teaches classes on American politics, legislative procedure, and political socialization.  His current research examines how political institutions influence political attitudes and behavior.

Jennifer Gandhi is the Howard Wang ’95 Professor of Global Affairs and Political Science and Deputy Dean, Jackson School of Global Affairs. Her research interests are in comparative politics and political economy, with a focus on authoritarian regimes and transitions to and from democracy.

Sterling Professor of Political Science

Alan Gerber is Sterling Professor of Political Science, director of the Institution for Social and Policy Studies, and professor of economics and of and statistics and data science at Yale University. He also has affiliations in the Yale School of Public Health and the Jackson School of Global Affairs. Previously he was appointed the Faculty of Arts and Sciences divisional director for the social sciences and became the inaugural FAS dean of social science, serving in this role from 2014 to 2021.

Jacob Hacker
Stanley B. Resor Professor of Political Science
Jacob S. Hacker is Stanley Resor Professor of Political Science, co-director of the Ludwig Program in Public Sector Leadership at Yale Law School, and director of the American Political Economy eXchange (APEX) at the Institution for Social and Policy Studies. He served as director of ISPS from 2011 through 2020. An expert on American politics and policy, he is the author or co-author of more than a half-dozen books, numerous journal articles, and a wide range of popular writings.
